At Over Zero, we meet people everyday who love and stand up for their neighbors. No matter our differences, we’re all stronger when we look out for each other. A neighborhood where everyone feels at home starts with small acts of kindness. 

We hope this Bingo Card sparks some ideas and makes it easy to get started. Together we can create a community of joy, safety, connection, and peace -  one square at a time.

  • Pick Up Trash In A Public Space

    • Grab A Friend, Your Sunscreen And A Trashbag! Make Your Local Park Shine. 

  • Host A Block Party Or Community Event

    • Send Invites A Week Or Two Ahead Of Time And Make Something Simple That Folks Might Like. Don’t Overthink It.

  • Shop At A Local Business

    • Stop By That Store You Always Pass But Have Never Been In!  

  • Fact Check Something Before Sharing It

    • Don’t Be Part Of Spreading Fear And Misinformation

  • Compliment A Stranger

    • It Feels Good. For Both Of You. 

  • Introduce Yourself To A Neighbor You Don’t Know

    • Yes, Even If They Seem Grumpy Or Have A Sign In Your Yard You Disagree With

  • Send A Thank You Card To Someone Who Did The Right Thing

    • They Could Be A Friend, Elected Official, Faith Leader, Or Community Member

  • Create A Neighbor Phone Tree

    • If That’s Too Big Of A Lift, Exchange Numbers With 3 Neighbors

  • Listen To Someone With A Different Opinion 

    • Come Up With Two Questions That Are Curious And Non Judgmental. Ask Them And Really Listen To The Answer.

  • List All The Kind Things You See In A Day

    • Remember Ordinary Acts Of Kindness Are Powerful And Everywhere. 

  • Volunteer In Your Community

    • Volunteer To Be A Tutor At A Local Library, Work A Community Festival, Or Walk Dogs At An Animal Shelter.

  • Try Something New At The YMCA

    • Join A Club Sport Or Try Out A Fitness Class You’ve Never Done Before. Stay Cool During Summer By Checking Out The Pool. Look At The Youth Camps They Offer. 

  • Be Yourself

    • Making Ourselves Smaller Doesn’t Protect Us. Instead It Isolates Us And Makes Us More Vulnerable. Choose Community Whenever You Can.

  • Visit A Library 

    • Ask A Librarian For A Book Recommendation, Study Or Work There For A Few Hours Or Take Your Kiddo To A Story Hour. 

  • Sign Up To Be A Poll Worker

    • Elections Should Exist And They Should Be Safe. Help Make That Happen. 

  • Help A Neighbor With A Small Task

    • Take In Their Trash Cans. Bring Them Their Package From The Mail Room. Ask If They Need Anything From The Store. 

  • Make A Meal For Someone Grieving Or In Need

    • You Can Cook Things In Large Batches And Freeze Them If You Have The Space. Then You Always Have Something On Hand. 

  • Leave A Kind Note For Someone To Find

    • Maybe You Know Them, Maybe You Don’t. Bonus Points If You Leave It Somewhere Tensions Usually Run High. 

  • Attend A Local Community Meeting 

    • Think School Board, Town Hall, Or Council Meeting

  • Gather Regularly With People Who Live Close By

    • Make It Simple. Order Pizza Every Other Week Or Make A Pot Of Soup Once A Month. Use Paper Plates For Easy Clean Up.

  • Register To Vote

    • Use Your Voice!

  • Donate To A Cause You Care About

    • Times Are Hard For Individuals And Organizations. Is There Someone Doing Valuable Work In Your Community? Make A Financial Gift To Support Them If You Are Able To. 

  • Join Or Host A Book Club

  • Donate To A Local Food Pantry

    • Find Your Local Foodbank Here.
